    Description

    Our aluminium balustrade post is the structural upright of the balustrade system — a 75mm × 75mm square post finished in black powder-coated aluminium for a clean, modern look that won't rust, rot or fade outdoors. Each post stands 1140mm to the top of the cap, giving a finished guarding height of 1100mm once installed, in line with UK building regulations (BS 6180:2011).

    Every post has a 120mm square base plate with a fixing hole in each corner, so it bolts securely onto any solid, structural surface — timber decking, concrete, stone or masonry — with the recommended M10 × 80mm fixings. A matching base cover finishes the fixing neatly.

    Posts are the maximum span of 1829mm apart, with additional posts added along longer runs to keep the balustrade rigid and compliant. Posts are sold separately so you can buy exactly the number your layout needs.

    Our aluminium balustrade is designed and tested in line with BS 6180:2011, the British Standard for barriers in and around buildings — so you can install it with confidence around domestic decking, patios, balconies and stairs.

    • Tested to BS 6180:2011 — load-tested and certified for domestic (single-family) use, resisting a horizontal load of 0.36 kN/m (test report AR210)
    • 1100 mm guarding height — meets the standard for domestic guarding
    • 100 mm sphere rule — pickets at 96.5 mm spacing, so a 100 mm sphere cannot pass through
    • Corrosion-resistant — aluminium alloy 6005 with a batch-tested powder-coat finish (RAL 9017 matt black)
    • 10-year warranty against material and finish defects

    Is this balustrade compliant with UK building regulations?

    It's designed and tested in line with BS 6180:2011, the British Standard referenced for barriers under Approved Document K. It's load-tested and certified for domestic single-family use (0.36 kN/m). For communal, commercial or public areas, higher load classes apply — speak to us or your building designer first.

    How high is the balustrade, and is the gap child-safe?

    The finished guarding height is 1100 mm, and pickets are spaced at 96.5 mm so a 100 mm sphere cannot pass through — meeting the gap requirement for domestic guarding.
