12mm Toughened Glass Panels - Stock Sizes

Description

12mm clear toughened glass panels in stock sizes, 1087mm high in seven widths. Because these are standard sizes rather than cut to order, they are dispatched in around 7 working days instead of the 3–4 weeks a made-to-measure pane takes.

12mm glass is a step up in thickness and rigidity from 10mm, and suits glass balustrades around patios, decking, balconies and terraces where a handrail is fitted across the top of the glass.

Which systems does it suit?

12mm toughened panels are for balustrade systems with a handrail, such as spigot or base-channel glass with a top rail. They are a single sheet of toughened glass, not laminated, so for frameless glass with no handrail choose our 17.5mm or 21.5mm laminated panels instead.

These panels are not for our semi-frameless or post & handrail systems. Those clamps take 10mm glass only.

Which width do I need?

Width is set by your spigot or channel layout and the gaps your system needs between panels. If you are unsure, send us your measurements and we will set the run out for you and tell you which widths to order.

The glass

Every panel is 12mm clear float toughened safety glass with polished edges and dubbed corners, manufactured to BS EN 12150. Toughened glass is heat-treated so that if it ever breaks it fragments into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards.

Panels are delivered on a pallet with the date arranged in advance. Glass is heavy (a 1000mm panel weighs around 33kg), so please have someone available to help offload.

Choose Made to measure in the options above. Made-to-measure glass is priced per linear metre of run, rounded up to the next whole metre. Order the number of metres and send us your panel sizes, or send us your measurements and we will work them out for you. Made-to-measure panes take 3–4 weeks and are non-returnable unless faulty, so it is worth checking whether a stock size fits your run first.

• Can I cut these panels down?

  No. Toughened glass cannot be cut, drilled or worked after manufacture - any attempt will shatter the panel. If you need a different size it has to be made to that size from the start.

• Is the glass safe if it breaks?

  Yes. Toughened safety glass is heat-treated so that if it does break it fragments into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards. This is why toughened glass is specified for balustrades and barriers, and it is what BS EN 12150 covers.

• How is it delivered?

  On a pallet, with the delivery date arranged in advance. Glass is heavy - a full balustrade order can run to several hundred kilograms - so please have someone available to help offload, and check the panels before signing.
