Artificial grass pitches need a conversation before you order
The foundation is a 300mm diameter hole at 750mm deep. On an AGP that means going through the carpet and shockpad into the sub-base, which has implications for drainage layers and any surface warranty. Confirm the build-up and depth available with your AGP contractor or surface warranty provider before ordering, and tell us what you find — on some constructions a surface-mounted or shallower solution is the right answer, and we would rather say so than sell you something that voids a pitch warranty.
Funding and Procurement
⚠ The football funds are not open to leisure facilities
The Premier League Stadium Fund is for clubs in the National League System. The Football Foundation cannot fund pitch perimeter barriers at all. Neither is a route for a leisure centre or local authority facility, whoever operates it.
Where the funding usually comes from
Most leisure facility fencing is funded from capital expenditure, planned maintenance budgets or local authority capital programmes. Sport England funding is available to eligible organisations for capital facility improvements, and National Lottery community funding may apply where a community club or trust operates the site. Programme names and eligibility change, so check the current position rather than relying on a scheme name seen elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the fence control access to a pay-to-use pitch?
Yes, and it is a common application. A fully enclosed perimeter with controlled gate access is what many leisure centres use to manage bookable pitches. We recommend a minimum of one 3.0m double gate for equipment and maintenance access and one 1.5m single gate for players per enclosed area, with additional gates to suit your site layout and booking system. Note the barrier is 1.1m — it manages access and defines the pitch, but it is not a security fence. If you need to stop determined intruders, that is a taller steel boundary and a separate product.
Is the system suitable for artificial grass pitches?
Often, but it depends on your build-up and it is worth checking first. The foundation is a 300mm diameter hole at 750mm deep, which on an AGP means penetrating the carpet, shockpad and sub-base. That can affect drainage layers and may have implications for a surface warranty. Confirm the construction with your AGP contractor or warranty provider before ordering and tell us what they say — on some pitches a different approach is the right one.
Can you install during opening hours?
We would prefer not to. Installation involves excavation, concrete and a 24-hour cure, so out-of-hours or closure-period working is safer for users and quicker for us. Our teams are used to tight site access schedules and will agree all working hours and access arrangements with your facilities manager before starting.
Do you provide a site survey before quoting?
For larger or more complex supply & install projects, yes. For a standard rectangular pitch we can quote accurately from your dimensions and a satellite image. Contact us and we will advise which is appropriate for your project.
Can local authorities procure this product?
Yes. The system can be procured through standard capital expenditure processes. We provide full specification, independent test reports and warranty documentation for any procurement or asset management submission, and can supply pricing in whatever format your process requires.
Do we need planning permission?
At 1.1m barrier height, planning permission is generally not required under permitted development rights. Confirm with your local planning authority before installation, particularly on a site within a conservation area or adjacent to listed structures.
