Handrail for Glass (10–21.5mm) — Satin

Description

Our satin handrail for glass is a slotted cap rail that fits along the top edge of the glass panels in a post-free balustrade — adding a graspable rail and extra stiffness across the run while keeping the glass-led look. The slot accepts glass from 10mm up to 21.5mm thick, in brushed 316-grade stainless steel.

It serves both of our post-free systems. On the spigot system, fitting the cap rail is what allows the thinner 12mm and 15mm toughened glass options at low fall heights — and pairs with 17.5mm toughened laminated at height. On the channel system, the cap rail enables the 17.5mm specification where a drop exceeds 600mm. For corner sections and end finishing, the matching accessories are available in black.

• Which systems does this fit?

  Our spigot and channel glass balustrade systems, on glass from 10mm to 21.5mm. It isn't needed on the post & handrail system (which has its own continuous rail) or the semi-frameless system (topped with post caps).

• Do I need a cap rail on my glass balustrade?

  It depends on fall height and glass choice. Under BS 6180:2011, a drop over 600mm protected without a handrail requires toughened laminated glass that stays in place if a panel fails — the 21.5mm specification. Fitting a cap rail allows the 17.5mm laminated specification at height instead, and at low fall heights it allows the thinner toughened options. The team will confirm the right combination for your project.
