I started The Outdoor Look from my kitchen table — though it wasn’t called that back then. In 2012, at 23 years old, I decided to give something completely new a go: selling artificial grass on eBay. I found a UK wholesaler, worked out how to ship large rolls with any courier who would take them, and slowly built up a customer base. Every lunch break and evening was spent replying to emails, arranging deliveries, and keeping customers updated.
It was a bit of a leap — there wasn’t a grand plan, just a new product on the market and the curiosity to try it. But being in the right place at the right time with the right product paid off.
In 2016, The Outdoor Look was officially born. What started with artificial grass has grown into a full range of low-maintenance landscaping materials — composite decking, fencing, cladding, aluminium balustrades, green walls and more. We’ve even moved into designing our own products, based on what our customers are asking for. I’m proud that we now import directly, which allows us to offer both high quality and competitive prices.
The name “The Outdoor Look” came from my belief that gardens are an extension of the home. They’re often the biggest space we have — so why not make them something beautiful and functional? I wanted to help people create outdoor spaces that feel just as considered as their interiors. Our logo reflects that idea, with clean lines representing urban buildings, leading into a tree and leaves.
What I’m most proud of is how far we’ve come from those early days. Seeing the business grow from a one-man operation to a recognised brand — with a team, warehouse, branded vehicles, and our own product lines — it’s incredibly rewarding. Every step has been built from the ground up, with no outside investment, just hard work, learning, and a genuine love for what I do.
Running a business comes with its challenges, but every twist and turn has taught me something valuable. It’s all part of the process, and I’ve embraced every stage of the journey.
For me, this isn’t just work — it’s my hobby. I genuinely love what I do: helping people bring their outdoor visions to life, finding new materials, and seeing a space transformed.
I’m building something to last — something I hope to pass on to my children one day.
