Spigot Glass Balustrade

A spigot glass balustrade holds each glass panel on square spigots fixed to the floor, so there are no posts and no base channel: just clear glass and a small clamp at the foot of each panel. Our spigots are Duplex 2205 stainless steel, in brushed satin or black powder-coated over the same steel.

Spigot glass balustrade kits

Start with the satin spigot glass balustrade kit or the black spigot balustrade kit. The calculator on each kit sets out your runs, picks the glass, counts the spigots and covers, and adds the top rail if you want one.

  • Drop under 600mm: 10mm clear toughened glass, 1024mm high, in panels up to 1100mm wide.
  • Drop of 600mm or more: 17.5mm clear toughened laminated glass, 1087mm high, in panels up to 1000mm wide, with spigots fixed 150mm in from each panel edge. At this drop the system is designed in line with BS 6180:2011 for homes.

The 30 × 28mm top rail is optional on level runs. If any part of the job runs up stairs, the rail is added along the whole balustrade.

Glass spigots and parts

Need glass spigots on their own for a repair or extension? Satin glass spigots and black glass spigots take glass from 10mm to 21.5mm and are sold individually, with matching satin and black base plate covers. Top rail lengths, 90° corners, end caps, connectors and gaskets are listed below. Glass stiffeners for corners, joints and walls are available on request.

Fixing and delivery

Each spigot bolts through an oval base plate into a solid structural base, such as concrete, a steel frame or a retaining wall. Fixing bolts are not supplied, because the right anchor depends on what you are fixing into.

Stock glass dispatches in around 7 working days; cut-to-size and stair glass takes 3–4 weeks. Delivery is free on balustrade orders of £2,000 or more. Want posts and a handrail instead? See our post and handrail glass balustrade.
