Our aluminium balustrade gate is a complete, self-contained access gate that matches the rest of the aluminium system — same black powder-coated finish, same picket profile, so it reads as part of the run rather than an addition to it. Rust-free, low-maintenance and built to handle UK weather all year round, it's ideal for creating an access point onto decking, a patio, a balcony or into a garden.
The gate is 1168mm wide overall and comes as a full kit, including its own frame, pickets, posts, caps, hinges and latch — everything you need to hang and secure it. The leaf stands 1083mm, which gives a finished guarding height of 1100mm once hung with its bottom clearance. When planning your layout, allow roughly 1190mm for the opening — the gate plus a small clearance each side so it swings and latches freely.
If your opening is narrower than that, the gate can be reduced in width on site by trimming the top and bottom rails. The installation guide covers how, or call us on 01282 526428 and we'll talk it through before you cut anything.
The hinges and latch are flat-plate fittings, so they screw onto any square or rectangular post — our 75mm balustrade posts, a timber post, or an existing square upright. They won't fit a round post.

Yes. They're powder-coated aluminium, so they're rust-resistant, UV-stable and built for year-round outdoor exposure in UK conditions. Rinse down twice a year with warm soapy water, check and re-tighten screws occasionally, and in coastal areas rinse monthly to remove salt build-up. Avoid pressure washers and harsh chemicals.

The gate is 1168mm wide overall and is a complete, self-contained unit. When planning your layout, allow roughly 1190mm for the gate opening between posts — the gate itself plus a small clearance each side for the hinges and latch to operate.
Yes — the gate is supplied as a complete kit including its own frame, pickets, hinges and latch, so everything you need to hang and secure it is included.
The gate frame has its own small uprights that carry the hinges and latch, and these come as part of the kit. What it doesn't include is the structural post on each side that the gate hangs from — that's whatever it's being fixed to. If the gate is going into a balustrade run, those are your main 75mm posts. If it's going into a deck or a fence line on its own, any solid square or rectangular post will do, because the hinges and latch are flat-plate fittings that screw onto a flat face.
Allow approximately 1190mm between your main posts for the gate — that's the 1168mm gate plus around 10mm clearance on each side so it swings and latches freely. If you're unsure how the gate fits into your layout, use our quote form and we'll confirm it with you.

Load tested at 0.36 kN/m — our manufacturer has tested a rail section of this system against the horizontal line load for domestic single-family guarding, with no deformation. Further testing is in progress

Is this balustrade compliant with UK building regulations?
It's designed in line with BS 6180:2011, the British Standard referenced for barriers under Approved Document K. The finished guarding height is 1100 mm and pickets sit at 96.5 mm. Compliance on your own project also depends on the fixings and the surface it's installed into, so it's worth confirming the requirements for your setting. For communal, commercial or public areas, higher load classes apply — speak to us or your building designer first.
How high is the balustrade, and is the gap child-safe?
The finished guarding height is 1100 mm, and pickets are spaced at 96.5 mm so a 100 mm sphere cannot pass through — meeting the gap requirement for domestic guarding.
Has the balustrade been load tested?
Yes. Our manufacturer has tested a rail section of this system against a horizontal line load of 0.36 kN/m — the domestic single-family figure — along with the infill point and distributed loads, all held without deformation. A further programme of testing is under way, including higher load classes for communal and commercial settings. How far apart can the posts be?
The maximum span between posts is 1829 mm. Runs longer than that need additional posts along them to stay within the maximum and keep the balustrade rigid.

Solid production throughout and looks very sleek on our new split level garden. Mounted it onto a stone supporting wall using threaded bolts set in resin, very strong installation giving reassurance between the two levels.

Good customer service and great looking product. For DIY enthusiasts a chopsaw is a must and take time to ensure the rail brackets are fitted to the post centrally.

WOW what a great company to deal with ! From start to finish it have been impressed. Needing a powered coated balustrade i originally went to bespoke manufacturers and was shocked by the price and installation costs. I then researched online DIY and self installation kits and found The Outdoor Look. Communication was outstanding with 1 to 1 feedback on my measurements, help and instructions on installation. The quality of the products are first class and I personally found installation so easy, you just need to read instructions and take your time .
