These Aluminium Balustrade Spacers are designed to ensure the even distribution of spindles along the top and bottom rail of your balustrade system. They help maintain consistent spacing, alignment, and a clean appearance throughout your installation.
Each spacer is powder-coated aluminium to match the rest of The Outdoor Look system. While spacers are included with each aluminium railing kit, additional spacers are required when fitting balustrade kits on raked staircases to account for angled runs.
Ideal for maintaining symmetry and compliance with building regulations, these spacers are subtle in appearance but critical for achieving a professional and structurally sound finish.

The spacers set the correct, even gap between the pickets in your aluminium balustrade, keeping the spacing consistent and within the safe gap requirement. They're included in the rail kit, but can be bought separately if you need extras or replacements.
Spacers come as part of the rail kit, so most projects won't need extra. Buy them separately only if you need replacements or additional spacers for a custom situation.

the British Standard for barriers in and around buildings — so you can install it with confidence
around domestic decking, patios, balconies and stairs.
Tested to BS 6180:2011 — load-tested and certified for domestic (single-family) use, resisting a horizontal load of 0.36 kN/m (test report AR210)
1100 mm guarding height — meets the standard for domestic guarding
100 mm sphere rule — pickets at 96.5 mm spacing, so a 100 mm sphere cannot pass through

Is this balustrade compliant with UK building regulations?
It's designed and tested in line with BS 6180:2011, the British Standard referenced for barriers under Approved Document K. It's load-tested and certified for domestic single-family use (0.36 kN/m). For communal, commercial or public areas, higher load classes apply — speak to us or your building designer first.
How high is the balustrade, and is the gap child-safe?
The finished guarding height is 1100 mm, and pickets are spaced at 96.5 mm so a 100 mm sphere cannot pass through — meeting the gap requirement for domestic guarding.
