Description

Build your own complete frameless glass balustrade kit — the aluminium U-channel, the gaskets and the toughened safety glass, all sized to your exact run. It's the cleanest barrier we sell: the glass sits in a base channel at floor level with no posts, no spigots and nothing else on show, so a terrace, balcony or deck keeps its whole view.

Every kit is configured around two things: your run length and your fall height. The black powder-coated channel is supplied in the most economical combination of lengths to complete your run, and it base-fixes by bolting down through the channel base into the structural substrate (fixing bolts are supplied separately, because the correct bolt depends on what you're fixing into). The glass is then specified to your fall height: 15mm toughened glass suits drops up to 600mm; above that, toughened laminated glass is used — 17.5mm with a cap rail along the top of the glass, or 21.5mm with no rail at all for the fully frameless look. Panels come cut to order up to 1100mm wide.

• Is the glass included?

  Yes — this is the complete kit: channel, gaskets and toughened safety glass cut to order for your panel sizes. Send your run length and fall height through the quote form and we'll price the whole kit, glass included. (If you only need the channel itself, that's available separately as the glass balustrade channel.)

• What glass thickness will my kit use?

  It's set by your fall height and rail choice. For fall heights up to 600mm, 15mm toughened glass is suitable. Above 600mm, toughened laminated glass is required: 17.5mm where a cap rail runs along the top of the glass, or 21.5mm with no rail for the fully frameless look. We confirm the specification with you before any glass is cut.

• Do I need a handrail on a frameless glass balustrade?

  Not necessarily. Under BS 6180:2011, a barrier protecting a drop of more than 600mm should have a handrail unless toughened laminated glass that remains in place if a panel fails is used — that's what the 21.5mm specification is for. If you'd like a rail, the cap rail fits along the top edge of the panels and allows the 17.5mm specification.

• How is the channel fixed down?

  The channel bolts down through its base into solid structural material beneath — no core drilling. Fixing bolts are supplied separately because the correct fixing depends on your substrate; contact the team if you're unsure what to use.

• How do I work out what I need?

  Just measure your run length (outside-to-outside) and your fall height — those two numbers are all we need to configure the channel lengths, gaskets, glass thickness and panel layout. Send them through the quote form or call 01282 526428 and we'll come back with your complete kit priced.

• How long does delivery take?

  Glass is made to order: custom-size panes take around 3–4 weeks, stocked panes 3–10 days. Glass deliveries are scheduled with you in advance so offloading is safe, and delivery cost is confirmed at checkout by postcode.

• Can I return it?

  Standard items: notify us by email within 28 days of delivery; unused, original packaging, sellable condition; return postage is the customer's responsibility; refunds within 5–14 working days after inspection. Custom-cut glass is made to order and non-returnable unless faulty.
