Stainless steel balustrade posts, handrail tube and fittings for our Post & Handrail glass balustrade system. Everything here is 42.4mm round, in brushed satin 316 marine-grade stainless steel or 304 stainless steel with a matt black powder coat. Buy a complete satin kit or black kit planned from your measurements, or the individual parts to extend or repair an installation.

A glass balustrade with a handrail

Post & Handrail is our guarding system for stairs, balconies, landings and raised decks. 978mm posts carry a continuous 42.4mm handrail on a saddle at every post top, giving an 1100mm finished height on level runs. 10mm toughened glass, 900mm high, sits between the posts, which are set at up to 1200mm centres. The system is designed in line with BS 6180:2011.

Balustrade posts

  • End posts start and finish every run, with 2 glass clamps fitted.
  • Mid posts sit between bays, with 4 clamps.
  • Corner posts turn a run through 90 degrees, with 4 clamps.
  • Blank posts have no clamps and carry the handrail where the glass stops, such as at a change in level.

Every post has a 101.5mm base plate with a cover. Ground fixings are not supplied, because the right fixing depends on your surface.

Handrail and fittings

The handrail is 42.4mm stainless steel tube in 5800, 3000, 1500 and 1200mm lengths, joined with in-line connectors. Level posts take a fixed saddle and stair posts an adjustable saddle. A 90-degree elbow bracket turns the rail at a corner post, and an adjustable elbow takes it onto a stair pitch. Open handrail ends finish with an end cap or a 90° scroll end, or with a wall flange where the rail meets a wall.

Glass and clamps

We use stock glass widths from 300mm to 1100mm wherever your run allows, dispatched in around 7 working days. Cut-to-size, tinted and stair glass takes 3–4 weeks. The D-shape clamps and end caps are the same parts used on our semi-frameless system, so they are listed here too.

Satin or black?

Satin is uncoated 316 marine-grade stainless steel, the finish to choose near the sea or around pools, made to last decades with occasional cleaning. Black is 304 stainless steel protected by its powder coating, and is not recommended for coastal or poolside sites. Keep to one finish per run.
